faux fur is everywhere this season, and faux fur now looks and feels almost exactly like the real stuff. i love fur vests layered over sweaters and jackets, and also cropped fur coats topping off a laid back or polished look. faux fur vest: h&m, sweatshirt blazer: american eagle, white shirt: ralph lauren, belt: my mom's closet, leggings: american eagle, leg warmers: holister, boots: steve madden |

a cape with a dash of animal print
on a recent trip to the attic, i found this cape that used to belong to my grandma. i have a few of her other pieces that i cherish, including a beaded sweater i wear to death. this had been in a bag though, so when i looked inside i just assumed it would be one of my old coats from when i was young. i was so excited when i realized it was a cape with animal print, both of which are huge this season. i was even more excited (shamefully) when i looked at the tag and saw that it was from Saks Fifth Avenue and still in perfect condition. its safe to say my grandma had excellent taste! its worn with a gap boyfriend sweater from last year and dark wash "jeggings" from american eagle. i love dark wash jeans; they go with everything and make shirts and sweaters pop. on a sadder note, my dog sammie, whos in a couple of these pictures, had to be put down today. his cancer had spread to his lungs, among other areas, and he had extreme difficulty moving and eating. as a kind of tribute, he'll be in my next couple of posts. |
